Settling and opening a business in Malaysia may sound peaceful but when it comes to which types of visa to apply, problems will arise. However, to help you ease your mind, we have prepared the types of visa offered in Malaysia. There are basically 3 types of visa which are issued by the Malaysian Government to the foreign national. Below are the 3 types of visa in Malaysia issued:
|1. Single Entry Visa||
This single entry visa is usually issued to foreign nationals. This visa is issued usually to foreigners who require a visa to come in Malaysia for the purpose of social visit of business visit. This visa is valid for duration of three months from the issuing date. It still depends on the officer of the immigration.
|2. Multiple Entry Visa||
This multiple entry visa is issued for either business visit or government to government matters. The duration is usually three (3) months to twelve (12) months from the issuing date.
|3. Transit Visa||
This visa is issued to foreign nationals who need it to enter to Malaysia and transit to other countries. However, foreigners who choose not to leave the airport precincts or who continue their travel journey does not need transit visa.
Moving on, aside from those visas mentioned above, there are specifically working visas in Malaysia.
Types of work passes
There are 3 types of work passes. It all depends on the type of job and skills that one acquires.
|1. Employment pass||
The employment pass will only be issued to a worker or an employee who acquires or obtains specific skills. An example would be for employee who works for technical or managerial jobs. The period will usually be a minimum of 2 years.
|2. Temporary Employment Pass||
The temporary employment pass is usually issued for an employee or worker who will either be working for less than 2 years in the company or who receives a salary with less than the amount of RM5,000.
|3. Professional Visit Pass||
The professional visit pass is issued to foreign nationals. These nationals should remain employed by the company that they are working for in their home country. This visa is issued when a Malaysian company requires a certain service from the employee or worker for duration up to 6 months only.

Business Visa Application – Multiple Return Journey Visa
The Business Visa Application can be applied by a local Malaysian Directors at a cost of RM 410.00 for duration of two years. It will renewable every two years provided the application is approved. The visa application will usually take about 30 to 45 days to process.
- Is it confirmed that once we apply for the visa, it will be approved?
No. All visa application shall be approved or rejected based on the immigration policy, rules and regulation.
2. Can I apply for working visa if I plan to open a business in Malaysia?
No. Make sure to check the business legality and process all necessary documents to open the business. Once the business is opened, it is advisable to have multiple transactions within the company before applying for the visa.
3. How much is the cost of multiple entry visa?
The Multiple Entry Visa costs RM 100.00 for Indian Citizens and RM 30.00 for citizens of the People’s Republic of China.
